Exploring Green Building and Embodied Carbon

This webinar will discuss how to identify common sources of embodied carbon in the supply and value chains of industry. This will include:

   Defining Embodied Carbon

   Defining Scope 1,2&3 emissions

   Discuss high level computation of these emissions

   Discuss emissions that pertain to supply chains, the warehousing industry and other buildings that are part of these value chains.

The webinar will also look how green building rating systems address embodied carbon emissions from building materials, construction and manufacturing, including:

  Discuss LEED rating systems and their credit categories which address emissions and environmental impacts from the materials that go into our buildings

  Discuss how other green building rating systems(WELL, LBC and others) address these same emissions 

Lastly the presenters will discuss policy and laws at the State and Local level that address carbon emissions from supply chains and the built environment.

Speakers:

Mudhar Aldurra

Mudhar is an experienced Associate Principal, Sustainability Consultant at Introba with a background in civil and environmental engineering. With experience in both construction and consulting, Mudhar brings a holistic understanding to incorporating sustainability features in building projects and is passionate about advancing sustainability initiatives that have long-term beneficial impacts on the greater community.

Ravi Bajaj

Ravi currently serves on the USGBC California Board of Directors, and also teaches about green buildings and ESG at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) as a lecturer. He was the founding Principal for Citadel’s ESG & Sustainability Practice area – overseeing ESG consulting, WELL Performance Testing, and IEQ sampling for sustainability and health & wellbeing building certification programs.

Ravi has experience in collaborative project management with GRESB, WELL, LEED, BREEAM In-Use, Fitwel, and Living Building Challenge rating systems, direct experience with WELL PV and BREEAM In-Use assessments, as well as energy and water consumption data acquisition, tracking, and analysis. He is passionate about continuous improvement programs.
